Do You Offer Payment Plans?

Yes, we allow our programs to be broken into 3 or 6 monthly programs, depending on which option you choose!

What is diabetic alert dog training?

Diabetes alert dogs are trained to notice when their owner is experiencing low blood sugar. They then alert their owner by placing their paw on their owner. If sleeping the dog may be trained to awake the owner
and in the event that they do not awake the dog may awake another family member.

Can any dog do diabetic alert dog training?
If your dog has a nose they can do diabetic alert dog training and/or nosework! If you have let your dog out into a yard
“bone, animal, or food” you’ve probably seen them tracking and alerting on their own . We just take that natural ability and maximize into a fun rewarding and life saving game!
When are your classes?
We do lessons 7 days per week! Contact us for specific openings!
Do we still have class in bad weather?
In severe weather classes may be canceled. Call 888-413-0896 to see if classes are canceled. Many of our diabetic alert classes are held indoors, but if you are unsure contact your diabetic alert instructor.
Do you offer private lessons?

Yes, all of our lessons are private! We also offer private lessons in obedience, nosework, behavioral modification, therapy certification, and service dog certifications as well. Check out www.offleashk9training.com for more information on those.

Can I bring friends and family members to watch?

We love to have spectators come and watch classes and training; however we ask that they respect the dog’s concentration and not call the dog’s name and sit quietly while classes are in session. We find noises and excessive may disrupt the dog while they are learning.

Do you accept credit card payments?

Yes, we accept all credit cards and ACH.

Do you offer a discount if we sign up for your obedience training, too?

Are there official diabetic alert dog certifications?

You can certainly have your dog become a certified service dog once he/she complete diabetic alert dog training with us.

What equipment is needed?

Just your pup, a harness, some high valued reward, and samples of your saliva, as well.

How long is this training?

You may need to practice about 20 minutes per day for up to 6 months!

Can all dogs do this?

As long as your dog is food motivated, does not have an anxiety/confidence issues, no health problems, is not fearful of other dogs or humans, they should be okay to do this type of training.  You really just need an overall stable dog.  We can also add in one of our custom obedience packages to fix many issues and give them solid manners.

Are there any prerequisite for the diabetic alert class?

There are no class or age prerequisites for the diabetic alert classes. However, in order for your dog to be a certified service dog, they do have to pass basic manners, obedience, and public access testing.  All of these things we can provide, as well.

Can you guarantee my dog will alert on my blood sugar?

We cannot guarantee this, because we are solely relying on the owner to do the work on a daily basis in between lessons.  However, you will have the tools, knowledge, and know how in order to make your dog fully trained. If you put the daily time in, your dog will certainly be alerting you.
